Yasemin Emory, Whitney Geller & Benjamin Leszcz
Partners

Whitman Emorson is led by Yasemin Emory, Whitney Geller and Ben Leszcz, who work in close collaboration to shape the company’s culture and its work. All three partners play an active and significant role in every project.

The partners’ diverse experiences contribute to the company’s uniquely interdisciplinary approach and its distinctive point-of-view. Yasemin, a McGill and Parsons graduate, worked previously at the New York design agency CO-OP, and as an art director at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. Whitney, a graduate of McGill and the University of Warwick, spent several years at Bruce Mau Design in Toronto, Chicago and New York, working with MTV, Coca-Cola, The Mayo Clinic and the Oprah Winfrey Network. Ben, an alumnus of the University of King’s College and LSE, worked previously as a journalist, contributing to Monocle, Conde Nast Traveler and Bon Appétit, and at Winkreative in London, UK, where he collaborated with Hermès, Porter Airlines and the Government of Thailand.

Whitney and Yasemin founded Whitman Emorson in 2011, when they were both living in New York. Soon after the pair moved the company to their hometown of Toronto, Ben joined as a partner.

Petra Cuschieri
Lead Designer

Petra cut her teeth in high school as a hand-bag entrepreneur, and she still brings a playful, craft-driven approach to everything she does. A George Brown grad, Petra worked previously at Jackman Reinvents, john st., and the record label Arts & Crafts, where her album artwork for artists like Feist and Broken Social Scene earned her a Juno Award.

Hannah Siklos
Project Manager

A University of Guelph grad who worked previously at Swipe Design and Kriss Communications, Hannah plays a key role in research, strategy, brainstorming and client management. She also generally keeps the studio ticking and, crucially, ensures team WE is always tapped into the zeitgeist.

Rebecca Huang
Senior Designer

Rebecca was still an OCAD University student when she became WE employee number one in 2012. Now an integral part the company’s DNA, Rebecca is our resident watercolourist, cardboard structural engineer and horticulturalist; without her, our green wall would be brown.

Rachelle Lajoie
Designer

Rachelle joined WE immediately after graduating OCAD University, quickly establishing herself as a reassuringly calm presence, sustaining the studio’s cosmic balance with her easy-going disposition and her equally chilled-out sidekick, the sagacious 14-year-old Black Lab mix, Rosie.

Alley Kurgan
Designer

Alley spent several years in Vancouver, studying at Emily Carr University and then working at Herschel Supply Company and the boutique firm, Glasfurd & Walker. In 2015, she decided to bring those laid-back, West Coast vibes home to Toronto. Soon after, she joined WE.

Deborah Lewis
Production Designer

A Ryerson grad and former graphic designer at the professional photo lab Pikto, Deborah recently joined WE as a production designer. By day, Deb is a powerhouse of creative output; by night, she is, as she puts it, "designing through the 6ix with her woes."

Micah Toub
Senior Editor

Micah is a National Magazine Award-winning journalist, a former Globe and Mail editor, and the author of the acclaimed memoir, Growing Up Jung. A native of Denver, Micah moved north to study at McGill and never looked back. He worked at the design firm Parcel before joining WE.

Lydia Pawlowsky
Writer/Researcher

Lydia joined WE as our resident Writer/Researcher after having previously worked for Format, TD, and Free Agency. Day to day, she delivers strategic copy, considered insight, and a near-constant Slack stream of the best links the internet can provide.

Whitman Emorson’s core team comprises three principals, who work on all of the consultancy’s projects, and a small group of designers, copywriters and project managers. We also draw on a broad, global network of collaborators – including photographers, illustrators, web developers, filmmakers and more – as projects require.
